The brand March 21 (M21) was created to symbolize the first day of Spring as the start of a new surf season.
Jasmine, founder of M21, grew up watching her father oversee his team of shapers and craftsmen who began making surfboards in 1996.
When she finished her degree at Cal Poly Pomona she took some time off to travel and explore the world. Shortly after time off, her father and the surf industry came calling. They could really use her help in establishing and maintaining great relationships with local up-and-coming, as well as legendary shapers.
In 2003, board design label was founded by Jasmine, who had made herself at home here in Southern California. The label name was created to symbolize a new beginning, as the first day of Spring as the start of a new surf season.
Her mission is to promote the sport by designing and producing entry to advanced level boards shapes which are user friendly and affordable. Her goal is to introduce new people to surfing and bring others back to it.
In 2013 David (Jasmine's husband) is now on board with the family business. He’s very hands on and takes pride in design, shape, and quality control with his team here in Southern California.
Many visitors and customers are curious about our location here in the Inland Empire. That's right! We are nowhere near the ocean! Given our mission and our desire not to compete with indigenous California shapers, we do not feel necessary to be anywhere near it. We support local shapers!
We encourage folks to try and take on surfing, by starting with our easy transitional boards. We produce a wide range of designs in different sizes and shapes which help beginners grow and progress building their own surf style and skill.
